are now also into fashion, slow fashion. This autumn they will sell a collection of eight soft clothes named "numb" by Swedish designer Anna Bonnevier. From the triangle form she has made classic black everyday wear made to last for more than one season in prices ranging from SEK 900-2500.

Summermovies in august

Five films will be shown outdoor in Drakenbergspark in Tantolunden Södermalm in August. Starting with Sofia Coppolas Marie-Antoinette August 13 followed by Diary from a motorcycle August 14, Young Rebel with James Dean August 15, Swedish film Tillsammans August 16 and Do the Right Thing Sunday August 17. The weather forcast this weekend promises hot and sunny weather. What can be nicer than a drink by the waterfront? Here are nine favorites in all different areas.
Restaurang Kungsholmen, Norr Mälarstrand, Quay 464, Kungsholmen. Great food and nice drinks, close to the City Hall.
MS Gerda, Boat on Norr Mälarstrand, Kungsholmen. Popular, trendy and crowded.  
Mälarpaviljonen, Norr Mälarstrand, Kungsholmen. Café, bar, restaurant and club. Well Mälarpaviljongen has it all. Some evenenings are for gays. A great place to go after sunbathing in Rålambshovsparken.
Flyt, Boat at Kornhamnstorg, Gamla Stan (Old Town). Lively bar and restaurant.
Strandbryggan, Strandvägskajen 27, Djurgården bridge. Bar and restaurant. Get that archipelago feel.  
Josefina, Galärvarvsvägen 10, Djurgården. 1000 outdoor seats, palmtrees and a great view over the waters of Stockholm. Bar and restaurant.
Loopen Marina, Hornstulls Strand 6, Södermalm. Close to Street market and the nice Tantopark. This is a great place to finish of your sunbathingday on Södermalm.
Thaiboat, Ösgötagatan, Quay 300, Södermalm, Thaifood on a vikingship. This place is everythiing but the ordinary. Great food, good drinks on the beach.
Sjökrogen Pampas Marina, Karlbergs Strand 4, Vasastan.  A bit of the beaten track, but a good restaurant and a great place for a view over all the boat houses in the marina.

Stockholm is a city on water. Why not stay at one of the boat-hostels/inns in Stockholm. You will get a beautiful view and a unique memory, but the rooms are often smaller than usual. Choose between a stay at a hostel or a hotel stay. One is the ship Mälardrottningen hotel, that used to belong to the Woolworth heiress Barbara Hutton, married once to Cary Grant another is the wellknown af Chapman youth hostel situated on Skeppsholmen.

Polo at Djurgården


Polo and the National City Park in Stockholm seems like a good combination. On August 23 the Jaeger-LeCoultre Scandinavian Polo Open takes place at Gärdets Sportfält in the National City Park of Stockholm with entertainment, hat parade and activities.

New Hotel Lydmar opens in October

Pelle Lydmar is opening a new hotel, by Nationalmuseum and Grand Hotel, in Stockholm in October. Hotel Lydmar will be focused on art and photo. Read more about it here

There are more to see in the National City Park than beautiful parklands and woods. Here are also three of the Royal summer pleasure retreats:

Gustav III´s Pavilion at Haga Park is one of the highlights of Swedish art history and is one of the finest examples of the European Neo-Classicism of the late 1700s in Northern Europe

Rosendal Palace,  located on the island of Djurgården close to Rosendals Gardencafé and was built in the 1820s for King Karl XIV Johan, the first Bernadotte.

Ulriksdals Palace is situated on the banks of Edviken Lake in the National City Park in Stockholm. The palace was built in the 1600s and visitors to the palace witness many different epochs. Several Swedish regents have left their mark on Ulriksdal. Queen Kristina built a pleasure garden in front of the palace and Hedvig Elenora built an Orangery in the park

Stockholm in 1661 in a lumolog

One of the rare items in the Stockholm City Musueum collection is the 1661 oil painting "the Castle Tre Kronor" by the Dutch painter Govert Camphuysen. The painting shows the former palace of Stockholm, located at the same place in Gamla stan as todays palace, but was ruined by a fire in 1697.  During May a fun lumolog will make the painting come alive. Être Blessé -being hurt being blessed

Être Blessé - being hurt being blessed, a performance about the artist and sculptor Louise Bourgeois, and will be played at Theatre Giljotin and performed by the dutche performance artist Karina Holla. Karina works with several performing arts like dance mime and acting.  Its played between September 10-October 5.

Grand Hotel are opening new conference facilities, this time on the waters of Stockholm. Sea Lounge Grand Hôtel is a conference boat with room for up to 40 people. A sauna, outdoor jaccuzzi and a coctailbar are also omboard.

Happy birthday Pendeltåg!

The Stockholm commutortrain called pendeltåg turns 40 years! Happy birthday. So why not visit some attractions on the commuter trainline such as Södertälje with the amazing Tom Tits Experiment and their open air museum Torekällberget. You can also visit Nynäshamn by the Sea for water activities, island hopping and great views.

Industrial feeling

Where do I go if I want to get that industrial feeling in the beautiful Stockholm? Here are sixsuggestions for eating, sightseeing and sleeping.
  • Restaurant, bar and eventvenue AG925 (Allmänna Galleriet) is a cool former printer.
  • Café Winterviken in Aspudden suburb is where Alfred Nobel did his nitro-tests
  • Restaurang Lux gourmet restaurant in former Electrolux
  • Färgfabriken former colour factory is a laboratory of the contemporary art
  • Magasin 3 former shipping warehouse is now a well renowned art hall
  • Stay at former prison Långholmen

You can also visit the ship-yards Beckholmen or Galärvarvet.  While you are in the Aspudden neigbourhood you can walk to Telefonplan, the former telephone company Ericssons premisses and check out the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design area.


New Cruise Terminal in Stockholm

A new cruise terminal in Scandinavia, Stockholm Cruise Centre, opened Friday in the Swedish capital.  The new terminal has been built in response to demand from cruise lines and follows a bumper year of cruise ship visits to Stockholm in 2007, making it the fifth largest cruise destination in Northern Europe*. The summer of festivals

Summer in Stockholm is amazing and its the perfect place to be for an outdoor festival. No wonder that this summer will be a music and cultural festival year. Pop and Rock festivals such as; Popaganda, Where The Action Is, Acceleratorfestivalen and Republik. The Baltic Sea Festival attracting some of the worlds best conductors to Stockholm for this classical music festival. The 25 year celebrating Stockholm Jazz Festival, The Early Music Festival and Lida Countryfestival.

The Culture Festival is an amazing festival with 600 events during 6 days, most of them free of charge. There will be street theatres, children events and performances of all kinds on the stages and the streets of Stockholm.
Stockholm are also proud hosts of the Europride festival this year. There will be two main festival areas; Pride House with debates and seminars and Pride Park with entertainment and fun, but the city will be filled with all types of events.



New hostel in Old Town

Old Town has gotten its first (I believe) hostel. 2kronor OLD TOWN perfectly located on Skeppsbron 40, at the waterfront. The hostel has 50 beds and offer accomodation suitable for individual, small parties or larger groups in a relaxed and international atmosphere.

Not many capital cities in Europe that offers such a well-built fauna not far away from the city boarder. Many of the Swedish mammals can be found just 30 minutes away from the centre of Stockholm. Orrefors beautiful everyday articles and Kosta Bodas creative glassworks are the two most wellknown Swedish glass producers. They have a great show room on  Birger Jarlsgatan 13.  Here you can find works of Åsa Jungnelius (image) and Ludvig Löfgren, two of  the young Kosta Boda tallents. their design is fresh and provocative in a whole new new way.

Scandic the environmental-friendliest hotel

The Scandic Hotels Chain was recently awarded the most environmental friendly hotel chain in Sweden. The acknowledgement was made by SKD Euroconfs.
