Peter Lindqvist was CEO of Congrex Sweden, one of the world's leading conference organizers, for many years and worked most recently as head of the meeting and conference department of Stockholm Visitors Board. Metro library in Stockholm

Borrow a book in the Metro of Stockholm. This will be a reality on three metrostations in Stockholm, but only available for Stockholm County library card holders. The three library metro stations are Bredäng, Högdalen and Östermalms Torg.

Spring is surely in the air.  Walked through Humlegården this morning. Red and white tulips, yellow daffodils neatly spread all over the garden. These photos were taken by a colleague of mine in Kungsträdgården just this morning. It is absolutely sooo lovely.

Nobel for the noble, and others

The cream of the swedish business world, the royal family and the worlds foremost scientists are all in Stockholm today. They will gather at the Koncerthouse for the Nobel Prize ceremony and later on gather for a banquet at the City Hall. Few of us will ever be invited to the Nobel festivities, but if you want to experience some of it you can visit the Nobel Museum (free entrance today) or eat a Nobel Prize dinner at the City Hall cellars (stadshuskällaren) any time of the year. Here are some more ideas.

One step closer to a new link

The county administrative board of Stockholm (Länsstyrelsen) decided thursday to accept the new link "Förbifart Stockholm", next step is for the government to make the final decission. The 21 km link between E18 at Häggvik/Sollentuna, via Lovön, and E4/E20 at Kungens Kurva would make it possible to travel between northern and southern Stockholm without passing the City or Essingeleden. The National Environment Protection Board (Naturvårdsverket) is critical to the link because of the sensitive environment of the island Lovön.

Modernised Djurgårdstram in 2010

Djurgårdslinjen (tram) will be modernised and extended. The tram runs between Waldemarsudde at Djurgården to Norrmalmstorg. The route will now be extended from Norrmalmstorg to Centralen and ready in spring 2010.
