A new organised restaurant tour "Krogrundan"

"Krogrundan"(restaurant tour) is a new incentive idea for a company of 4-12 persons. The evening starts with a snaps followed by a beer and starter at Wärdshuset Ulla Winbladh, on Djurgården. Babajan at Etnografiska Museet, Djurgården, is one of the best eco-vegetarian restaurants in the city and always busy. Bondens Butik, at Tengdahlsgatan 30 sells products, including chicken and other meat, from small scale farms. In Sofo on Katarina Bangata, Södermalm and at Tessinparken, Östermalm, they sell newly harvested products in Bondens Egen Marknad (Farmers own market), Green n? Lean, on Scheelegatan 17, Kungsholmen serves eco-fastfood. Five new restaurants in Djurgården

Djurgården is a lovely place for both stockholmers and tourists with some of the best attractions in the city plus a wonderful environment. Five old-new restaurants are opening at Djurgården this spring. Enjoy them or a pic-nic of your own anyplace? 

Villa Godthem (former Wärdshuset Godthem), next door to Ulla Winbladh värdshus, undergoes a transformation and will invite the public to a new Swedish-French/provancal style kitchen under the guardian of former Gyldene Freden chef Hans Eriksson with main courses 195-295 kronor. A new bar and a new place for barbecue is being built and will offer weekend brunches on Saturday and Sundays. The restaurant will be open Tuesday-Friday 11.30-23/24, Sat 12-24, Sunday 12-22.

Ekorren Konditori at Biskopsudden, beside Waldemarsudde and in the boat harbour area, is now being put to order by Johnny Askerwall, former owner of Rosendals Wärdshus. Ekorren Konditori will keep its name but will become a classic summer restaurants with lighter summer food and excellent surroundings. The restaurant will open in end of April. The Café will be open everyday between 10-22. Ekorren konditori, Biskopsvägen 5, Biskopsudden, Djurgården. Phone: 08-662 01 80. Carl Michael close to Gröna Lund and the ferry at Allmäna Gränd opened recently the doors to a modern 16th century restaurant with classic Swedish food with modern influences. Main courses from 147-300 kronor. Open: tues-fri 11.30-15, 17-22.30 and weekends 13-22.30.
 Djurgårdsbrunns värdshus will open in mid May with Mathias Pilblad, a member of the swedish national team in food. The prices range from 90-285 kronor and the food will be Swedish with French, Spanish and Italian Mediterranean influences. The restaurant will be open every day from beginning and june and weekend brunch during low season.  

Josefina opened in autumn 2006. It's a fine line between ostentatious and elegant. Whether the white décor with its stucco work, columns and huge crystal chandeliers belongs to the former category or the latter is in the eye of the beholder. The restaurant?s owners have said that they wanted to create a culinary amusement park, and they have certainly achieved this with their interior design, the stunning Djurgården waterside setting and the classic dishes on offer.


Foodmagazine honours Scandinavia

Scandinavian Design have an image of clean line and simplicity and the food is not far from it, says the British food magazine Olive in a celebration to Scandi Style. The magazine is also impressed by the many restaurants in Stockholm for instance ? and offer recipes to smoked salmon with horseradish cream on rye bread, meatballs with mashed potatoes and lingonberry preserve, Janssons temptation and kanelbullar called "Sunday morning cakes"

Restaurant Aquavit opens in the new Clarion Hotel

The New York based Swedish restaurant Aquavit will be in charge of the new restaurant at Clarion Sign Hotel (opening feb 2008) that is now being built at Norra Bantorget in Stockholm. Aquavit is runned by the celebrity cook Marcus Samuelsson and Håkan Swahn. Clarion Hotel will own and run the Swedish baby-sister-restaurant Aquavit Stockholm and will licence the name from Håkan Swahns American company.


Top restaurants according to White Guide

F12 in Stockholm was chosen number one for total experience and Oaxen Skärgårdskrog as number one for foodexperience, according to White Guide. Other restaurants chosen for international class was Esperanto and Mistral in Stockholm. Among the ten top restaurants in Sweden you will also find Edsbacka Krog, Vassa Eggen, Lux and Operakällaren in Stockholm.


Esperanto recieves Guide Michelin star

Esperanto received their first star in Guide Michelin.  Edsbacka krog north of Stockholm keeps its two stars and Fredsgatan 12, Lux Stockholm, Mistral and Operakällaren in Stockholm keeps its star.
