On April 23, 2009, the Swedish government decided to cede its rights to use the palace back to the royal household, to be used by Crown Princess Victoria and her fiancee Daniel Westling as their official residence after thier wedding in 2010. The Haga Palace is located in the Hagaparken a part of the the National City Park.

It was built in 1802 - 1804, commissioned by King Gustav IV Adolf and designed by the city architect Christoffer Gjörwell.

After the death of their father, Prince Gustav Adolf, in a plane crash in 1947, the royal family moved to the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
