Visit Skärgården site in english

Stockholm is built on fourteen islands and the city is actually the start of another amazing collection of islands. The Stockholm Archipelago is a collection of more than 30,000 islands, skerries and rocks with a smooth surface due to the glacial ice sheet thousands of years ago. The landscape is varied, from wild, windswept outer-archipelago skerries, with waves breaking over the rocks to lush inner-archipelago bays where stillness reigns.

Visit Skärgården are the experts on the archipelago and has finally opened their site in english!!!

There are just few international permanent photomuseums in the world which can show large exhibitions: Forma in Italy, Foam in the Netherlands and ICP in the US. In just one month Stockholm will host a new world photo attraction - Fotografiska! The former custom house by the waterfront has turned into a four story house, 5500 square meters, dedicated to the art of photography.

Besides having several exhibition halls, Fotografiska also has a shop, bar and a first class restaurant. At Fotografiska Akademin you can develop your photographical skills. Akademin offers courses in photography, digital editing and multimedia to amateurs, semi-professionals as well as to professionals. Fotografiska can also help you organize your conference or event - large and small. The building further hosts Fotografiska Galleriet, a separate gallery that shows and sells contemporary photography.

Jan Broman and Per Broman (image above) are the founders of Fotografiska. The Broman brothers have extensive experience of working in the image/photograph business. An art council together with the executives of Fotografiska are responsible for selecting exhibitions.

Recreation at Blue Hotel

I woke up feeling like a new person this morning. The reason, i guess, is my visit to Blue Hotel and Blue Hamam on the island of Lidingö just 30 minutes by bus from Stockholm yesterday evening.

Me and some of my colleagues trieed a real turkish hamam treatment including scrub and wash on the special hot marble stone. The Blue Hamam also includes a steam bath, a sauna, a small hot pool, an outdoor jaccuzzi and a sauna by the sea. Part of the hamam experience is Camecan, the oriental lounge where you can rest, drink turkish tea and eat fruits and nuts. We also tried their excellent Meze...

Blue hotel is a family owned business and primary a hotel for meetings and conferences with 60 hotel rooms. They also offer wellness - for instance Yoga, instructed by one of the sons in the family. The other son stands behind the interior. The restaurant area, hotel rooms and the hamam area have recently been renovated. The traditionally 60s environment is still present in the modern, but still cosy atmosphere. The hotel also offers a really interesting wine cellar.

The hotel is looking in to the leisure market, which I personally think is a great idea. I can picture myself taking the regular boat to Blue hotel, enjoy a day in the Hamam, eat, take a walk in the surroundings, do some yoga, stay over night and go back by bus - as a new person...
