New Design hotel on Östermalm
Stockholm will get a new design hotel. On March 9 the 82 room Story Hotel will open in the city. The rooms at Story Hotel are small and personally decorated - a bohemian boutique hotel I would say. The new hotel is situated on Riddargatan 8, with a restaurant: Story Restaurang & Bar on Riddargatan 6 and a small shop with clothes and accessories. They also work together with Wonderwall for art. Hotel Stureplan opens 43 new rooms
The 43 new rooms at Hotel Stureplan will open on February 2:nd 2009. Hotel Stureplan opened in May 2008 with 58 rooms on Birger Jarlsgatan 24 at Stureplan square. The new hotel rooms plus a conference room and a gourmet italian restaurant will be a great addition to the hotel.

New 2-star hotel in Stockholm
Stockholm will have a new 2-star hotel named Lilla Rådmannens Bakficka next to Hotel Lilla Rådmannen. The new hotel, centrally located on Rådmansgatan 69, will feature 26 rooms - all with a cosy atmosphere. Both hotels are family owned hotel will also offer conference facilities for up to 25 people. The new hotel opens FEBRUARY 1, 2009.
Foresta becomes a Scandic Hotel
The Foresta Hotel by the waterfront on the island Lidingö next to Millesgården is turning into a Scandic Hotel. The hotel is well known and has a good reputation among conference delegates. The hotel features 95 rooms, 7 konferens rooms and a restaurant
Nordic Light opens event venue
Light Factory is the name of Nordic Light Hotels new venue in the heart of the city. Its a ultra flexible venue with a four-metre high ceiling, a top quality sound and lighting system, its own entrance opposite the Arlanda Express train station, opportunities for exposure out onto the street, and a functional but classic design.
The concept of rigging, movable walls and flexible lighting means that Light Factory can be transformed for press viewings, product launches, wine tastings, dinners and film showings. Creating the right atmosphere for unique events and installations is part of Nordic Light Hotel's concept. With an event coordinator, design department and a unique network of DJs, installation artists and lighting designers, Light Factory has everything you need to help you create an exclusive event.
Light Factory has two rooms that can be separated or opened up with the aid of movable walls. Both rooms together can take around 100 seated guests and 200 standing. The venue can also be opened up to include the Light Bar & Lounge, and can then accommodate around 700 people. The venue was designed by Jan Söder, head designer at Nordic Hotels. Black Venetian blinds, concrete flooring, tiled walls, large black factory lamps and furniture from Quince Milan, HAV and Gärsnäs give the room a classic but somewhat more functional look, which complements the more elegant hotel lobby.
New family owned hotel chain
The trend with small, personal and with an individual atmosphere is growing internationally and in Sweden. Victory, Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton hotel in Gamla stan is consolidatet to the new Collector's Hotel Group with plans to expand in Sweden and internationally. The name refers to the profile of the hotel, namely collecting antiquities which is a signum for the hotels. The Leijontornet restaurant, also in the family, is a guide michelin star restaurant.

Rica hotels launches signature scent
We have all heard about design hotels, boutique hotels and so on. The next trend is scent hotels, and Rica Hotel group in Sweden are the first to launch their own signature scent. The idea comes from the fact that scent memories are the strongest of all the senses. Rica Hotel at Kungsgatan, situated in the same building as the new lifestyle department store PUB launched the scent recently.
The products have all got a mild scent of lemon, smells fresh and are all made of environmentally sound ingrediences. The scent have been designed by Franka Bath & Body Care a new scandinavian company. The new scents will be launched in all Rica Hotels in Sweden.

New-old hotel on Östermalm
Former Hotel Arcadia in Stockholm has been renovated. The new hotel: Elite Hotel Arcadia is now a four star hotel with 91 rooms.
Located on Östermalm in central Stockholm not far away from the legendary 1912 Olympic Stadium and the Royal institute of Technology you will find The Elite Hotel Arcadia. It is an elegant property from the late fifties where guests can enjoy a newly renovated hotel with a four star service.
Scandic launches gym at all hotels

Scandic Hotel wants to be the healthiest business in the tourism industry. They are therefore launchying a new gym concept at all of their 147 hotels according to Konferensvärlden. By January 2009 they will open new gyms at most of the hotels.
New hotel at Skavsta Airport
The Connect Hotel group are opening their third hotel. This time at Skavsta Airport on September 10. This will be the first hotel with in the Skavsta Airport area offering accommodation in several categories - from sk "Quick Sleep"-rooms, comfortable family rooms or business rooms. Just as the hotel at Arlanda Airport, the new hotel is runned with sun-cells and other eco-friendly ways.

New hotel in new Arenastaden
A new large hotel will be built in the so called Arenastaden in Solna, by the new eventarena. The new hotel will be runned by Quality Hotel/Choice Group. The hotel will have 400 double rooms and a banquet hall for 2000 guisets. The hotell will be integrated with the new Swedbank Arena and the new Mall of Scandinavia. The hotel will open at the same time as the arena, that is in 2012. The new hotel will include a skybar on top of the 90 meter high building, conference areas, restaurants and a spa.
