"A room with a view" is the name of the ten meter high artinstallation that is place in the atrium of PUB and contributes to an artexperience at Rica Hotel Kungsgatan. The artwork consists of four transparant images in four different colourcodes casting shadows on the walls surrounded by them - like a ever changing shadow-forrest. The installation is a collaboration between the hotel and the gallery Operating place, situated on level 3 in the lifestylestore PUB.
New hotel at Skeppsholmen

In 2009 the Nobis group, also running Operakällaren etc, will open up yet another exciting venue. Långa Raden at Skeppsholmen, in Stockholm city centre will turn into a unique hotel environment with ultra modern design in a historical building from 1699.

A Scandic makeover competition

The Scandic-Hotel chain announced a competition in order to find the best solution for new hotel rooms. Five architects have now been selected to refurbish a prototype room each at Scandic Hotel Malmen at Södermalm. Light interir, practical workspace and smart solutions for warderobes are some of the guidelines given. The five architects are: Artek from Finland, Stay from Norway and Murman, Doos arkitekter and Krook & Tjäder from Sweden.

Spa is being built at Grand Hotel
The five star Grand Hôtel in Stockholm, are planning to build a 700 square meter SPA for hotel guests and the public on the ground floor and basement floor close to Mathias Dahlgren restaurant. The opening date is not set yet. Grand Hotel plans to open it during spring 2009.

I heard that Rica Hotel Kungsgatan now is undergoing a total refurbishment. A work colleague saw one of the concept rooms the other day and got so exited. The hotel has a great location, situated in the PUB departmentstorebuilding and opposite of the Concert Hall, but has a somewhat secret entrance. Im therefore happy to hear that they have plans to do something about the lobby. They are also going to connect it more to PUB department store and refurbish all rooms before April 2008!!!
As I understand they will give it a modern, cool look, and I believe that they will succeed, since they are using Svensk Inredning - who have done the most amazing rooms at Ulfsunda Slott.

Three new suites at Globe Hotel

Quality Hotel Globe at Stockholms Globe Arena adds three luxury suites on the top floor of the hotel, a spa area and a large banquet hall. Four days of Seinfeld at Rica Talk Hotels
All fans of the TV show Seinfeld are welcome to Rica Talk Hotel in Älvsjö during four days and nights. The marathon movie event starts thursday January 10 at 1800 with "The Seinfeld Chronicles" (aka "Good news, bad news") from 1989 and ends Monday January 14 at breakfast with "The Finale 1&2".The whole Seinfeld collection will be shown in all hotel rooms, the restaurant and bar. Scandinavian navy style at new low fare hotel
Visited the new Hotel Micro yesterday and think its a great alternative for a family or girlfriends travelling to shop. The rooms are like small cabins without windows decorated in marine colors blue, red and white which gives it a clean, fresh scandinavian look. And its priceworthy: 495 for one person during the weekend. All rooms have bunk beds, the lower dbouble bed being 120-140 cm wide, and the top one is 90-120 cm wide. Though the rooms are small they feel OK. If you stay two or more people in the room you pay an additional 50 SEK per person. Four girlfriends during weekend costs: 645 SEK per night. The beds are top class. Each room has a mirror of course, and a work table and a stool to sit on. New and fresh showers and WC for ladies and gentlemen you find on the same floor. Towels in the room.

Travellers just looking for a comfy bed in a central location to under 700 kronors, now have a choice. 33 low fare hotel rooms have just opened centrally located at Tegnerlunden in Stockholm. The rooms at Hotel Micro are small, 5-6 square meters, but the bed is comfy and 140 cm wide. The interior is simple and guest has access to showers and toiletfacilities and a room with tv, computor and coffee/sandwich machines. Marriott opens their first hotel in Sweden
The american hotel chain Marriott International will open its first hotel in Sweden in 2009. The hotel is being built at Lindhagensplan on Kungsholmen in Stockholm and will have 272 rooms. Scandinavian Hospitality Group (SHG) owns the franchise rights for all Marriotts brands in Sweden, Norway and Finland. The company will open hotels under the names Marriott Renaissance, Marriott Executive Apartments and Courtyard. The Lindhagensplan hotel will be a Courtyard hotel.
