Ryanair opens new route to Stockholm
Ryanair is opening a new route from Tallinn in Estonia to Stockholm-Skavsta airport. The new route opens on Decenber 13 2010 with four flights per week.
Art gallery opens on shopping street
Jonas Kleerup, a well known gallerist in Stockholm, is opening his new art gallery on the Biblioteksgatan named Villa, one of the main shopping streets in the city-Östermalm district. The area around Biblioteksgatan is home to international fashion brands and the center of the best of Swedish fashion labels (Acne, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, J Lindeberg, Tiger, Filippa K etc). Kleerups idea is to integrate art and shopping to attract a new crowd.
Östermalm is an exclusive area in Stockholm. The area around Stureplan in Stockholm is becoming the new center of galleries in Stockholm. Natalia Golding is moving her gallery (from Hudiksvallsgatan) to the Stureplan Area, auction house Bukowskis are focusing on contemporary art and the new Gallery "Fruit and Flower deli" which is opening on Birger Jarlsgatan 31 by the well known gallerist Andreas Brändström and the designer Oscar Magnusson (also cousin of the crown princess Victoria).

Lux Stockholm is one of the star restaurants situated by the lake in a former industrial building. The restaurant is constantly evolving. The creative chef Henrik Norströms food philosophy is to maximize the food experience and to honour the origin and the food revolves around four distinct tastes - salt, sour, smoked and spiced - and the four seasons.
October 4 is the starting point of a new food concept: A show kitchen close to each table moving the kitchen into the dining area and shortening the time between cooking and serving. Personally I really like the concept which feels new and unusual in its form. I had the opportunity to try the new concept

New tram changes buss lines in Stockholm
The new tramline (spårväg City) from Sergelstorg Square and Djurgården changes the bus service for most tourists. Bus 47 is replaced entirely by the new tramway (Spårväg city) and busses 69 and 52.
Bus 69 will be prolonged, from Tomteboda to Blockhusudden, but from Sergels Torg to Blockhusudden and Kaknästorget it will be the same. From Tomteboda to Sergels Torg Square will be the same as bus 47 was earlier. Bus 52 will run between Fridhemsplan, via Sergels torg/Central station to Nybroplan next to the Royal Dramatic Theatre.
Travel from the Central Station to Djurgården:
- walk to bus stop Sergels Torg and take the tram line 7 (Spårväg City) or
- take "new" line 69 from Klara Vattugränd (stop "Centralen" former bus 47 stop) and change to tram at any of the stops between Kungsträdgården and Djurgårdsbron.
- take "new" line 52 from Klarabergsviadukten (stop "Centralen" former 69 stop). And change to the tram stop at the Kungsträdgården or Nybroplan.
World première of unique NASA exhibition
The world premiere of the international space exhibition “NASA - A Human Adventure", an exhibition of 400 authentic items, many on display for the first time, will take place in Stockholm. The exhibition opens on 27 January 2011.
The exploration of space is explained through a number of evocative installations, from the first space rocket launches to modern exploration of space beyond our solar system. The 2,000 m2 exhibition includes over 400 original items or replicas including space capsules, engines, space suits, telescopes and satellites, many of which have never been shown before.
The exhibition opens on January 27, 2011 at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm and closes on November 6, 2011.
A Human Adventure was produced by John Nurminen Prima in co-operation with NASA, Discovery Channel, The State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics in Moscow, the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center, and White Room Artifacts.
Wagamama and Potstickers to Stockholm
Two asian fast food chains are opening in the city district in Stockholm; Wagamama and the dumplingsbar Potstickers.
Wagamama - the popular brittish version of the asian kitchen is moving into the new Water Front Building in Stockholm - home of a congress center and hotel. According to Restauratören the restaurant will open in October and have 130 seats. It will be a part of Stureplansgruppen Group.
Potstickers is opening two dumpling restaurants this autumn, on Regeringsgatan and Tegnerlunden later on this autumn

Gotlandsflyg airline is opening a direct route to Stockholm on September 18 2010. So why not add a couple of extra days to your Stockholm visit and travel to the island of Gotland, with its lime stone rock formations and the picturesque and popular medieval city, Visby.

New hotel opens at Bromma airport
The building was originally designed by Paul Hedqvist who also have designed Västerbron-bridge and Skrapan in Stockholm. The new hotell will have a modern retro-design connecting to the functionalistic building from 1946.
New green Stadium is being built in Stockholm
The Stockholmsarenan Stadium, next to Ericsson Globe, is being built with the goal of becoming one of the world's most sustainable venues. It will open in December 2012 and even now, 51 dates booked in for the event in 2013 at Stockholmsarenan stadium.
The goal is to be one of the most thought-out arenas of environmental and sustainability point of view. The aim is also to meet international environmental category of the Stockholm stadium, the LEED rating system. With its 30 000 seats, it will meet the capacity requirements of FIFA and UEFA, and with its clear environmental arena becomes a green symbol of Stockholm.
100 000 have tried the SkyView
The new SkyView attraction opened in February this year and has already had 100 000 visitors - and almost all tours have been fully booked.
Most visitors have been swedes, but 30 percent foreign visitors from mainly Denmark followed by Finland, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Germany.

Clarion Stockholm opens new spa
Clarion Stockholm on Södermalm island is opening a spa, Elements Spa By Clarion Hotels during 2011. The spa is based on the Ayurveda-philosophys' five elements; earth, water, fire, air and space. The spa will be situated on floor 2 and with a separate new entrance or via the hotel.

Skeppsholmen is just a lovely green and lush island. Perfect for a stroll. And there are several places to eat. The excellent Moderna Museet restaurant have recently opened a small nice place, called Restaurang Hjerta (heart), aldready a popular place for Stockholmers as well as visitors.
Snoopy checks in at Nordic Light
One of Stockholms design hotels, Nordic Light Hotel, are celebrating Snoopy's 60th birthday with an exhibition and a room in the hotel. The exhibit, produced by Rekostylisterna, is spread throughout the entire Nordic Light Hotel: from the heart of the lobby up to the seventh floor where room #710 has been transformed into an exclusive ”Joe Cool-suite”.
Even such details as room keys, the hotel staff’s uniforms and menus have been inspired by Snoopy. On display in the lobby are a series of unique Snoopy statuettes, each one personally styled by a well-known artist, designer or creator. The statuettes will be auctioned out later this fall in partnership with Bukowskis. All proceeds will go directly to Friends, in support of their work against bullying.

Saltå Kvarn is well known for their organic products in nice retro looking packages. Saltå Kvarn, with headoffice in the Stockholm county, is opening their first store with approximately 200 organic products for sale on the island of Södermalm in Stockholm.

F12 opens Godthem on Djurgården
One of the most interesting buildings on the island of Djurgården, Villa Godthem, has a beautiful location by Skansen and Ulla Winbladh restaurant along the Djurgårdens canal. Villa Godthem will now be renovated and rebuilt in order to re-open spring 2011 according to the Group. The building will be shared with the Royal Swedish Automobile Association and more.
Melker Andersson and Danyel Couet of the F12 Group will be entering as a restaurateurs. Its the Groups seventh restaurant in Stockholm, which already operates Restaurant F12, SMAK restaurant, GRILL, Kungsholmen / Orangery, Brasserie Le Rouge / Le Bar and Fyran Restaurant.
