Soon time for Popaganda festival
The Popaganda Festival is one of Sweden's biggest, most prominent music events, featuring loads of good music, clubs, and films. This years's festival takes place at Eriksdalsbadet's outdoor pool and is known fondly as Sweden's biggest pool party. Among this year's artists are Lykke Li, Johnossis, Camera Obscura, Deportees, Mike Snow and Steve Aoki.

Running events in August
Stockholm Marathon in May every year, is ranked as the No 1 marathon destination in the world by The Ultimate Guide to International Marathons and also recognized as the most well organized marathons in the world. August is another popular running event month in Stockholm.
The popular Midnight run took place last Saturday and on August 23 the Mazda Stockholm Thriathlon will take place in the beautiful surroundings of the Royal Djurgården. On August 30 the popular Tjejmilen, with over 20 000 women participating, take place.
Volvo Ocean Race Stopover in Stockholm
The Volvo Ocean Race Stopover in Stockholm was inaugurated yesterday, Sunday.
Stockholm is hosting the Volvo Ocean Race, one of the world's most well known sailing competitions. From the start line to the finish line, the Volvo Ocean Race will pass through 11 ports, each with its own special culture and history. It will be the biggest event in Sweden in 2009, and more than half a million visitors are expected to visit Race Village and the festivities on Skeppsbron.

Ingmar Bergman International Theatre Festival
Some of the worlds most interesting theatre performances will guest play in Stockholm during the first Ingmar Bergman International Theatre Festival, May 27 to June 6 in 2009 in Stockholm. The Royal Dramatic Theatre are planning for a yearly returning event. Here are the main events.

Ingmar Bergman Int Theatre Festival
During one week som of the most interesting foreign theatre plays perform at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. There will also be several seminars, activities and meetings for the trade. The Royal Dramatic Theatre have plans for the area around the Royal Dramatc Theatre House at Nybropland and the Ingmar Bergmans Plats square in Stockholm. Hopefully photo exhibitions and outdoor movies. The Ingmar Bergman Interational Theatre Festival will take place May 27 - June 6th 2009.

Volvo Ocean Race in Stockholm

New event arena by Globen Arenas on its way
Stockholm is now one step closer towards a new sport and event arena by Globen Arenas in the southern part of Stockholm. The municipal executive board (Kommunstyrelsen) decided to support the plans for the 30 000 spectator multiarena.
Don't miss out on Stockholm’s Culture Festival in August
The cultural life in Stockholm will explode during Stockholm's Culture Festival. The forgotten squares and parks in Stockholm come alive during the six day long festival from 11 o'clock until midnight. More than 500 shows, performed by 200 artists from all over the globe, will be crammed into the festival area between August 12-17. There will be free admission to 99% of the program.
•Sergels Torg square: Activities on the building facades, avantgarde circus and things you can participate in. •Brunkeberg Square: Club music & Hiphop and house for the younger crowd

·Movies: CinemAfrica arranges two movie evenings at the roof of Kulturhuset (culture house). Stockholm Film Festival arranges with five out door movienights at Tantolunden-park on the theme Revolutionary romance with movies such as Marie-Antoinette and Rebel without a cause.

Globe Arena area expands

Streets burstling with dancers and dancers. The organizers behind Stockholm International Dance Week, which takes place during June 7-15, hopes that the streets, parks, squares and metro will be filled with dancers and dancing during the Dance Week at Stockholm Globe Arenas. Thousands of dancers from Sweden and prominent danceguests will compete in this large dance event. The summer of festivals
Summer in Stockholm is amazing and its the perfect place to be for an outdoor festival. No wonder that this summer will be a music and cultural festival year. Pop and Rock festivals such as; Popaganda, Where The Action Is, Acceleratorfestivalen and Republik. The Baltic Sea Festival attracting some of the worlds best conductors to Stockholm for this classical music festival. The 25 year celebrating Stockholm Jazz Festival, The Early Music Festival and Lida Countryfestival.
The Culture Festival is an amazing festival with 600 events during 6 days, most of them free of charge. There will be street theatres, children events and performances of all kinds on the stages and the streets of Stockholm.
Stockholm are also proud hosts of the Europride festival this year. There will be two main festival areas; Pride House with debates and seminars and Pride Park with entertainment and fun, but the city will be filled with all types of events.
Stockholmers own festival
At 08.08 on the 080808 Stockholmers own festival Go08 will take place in Stockholm. Why the obsession with 08, you might ask? Well its the regional dialing number for the Stockholm region and "Nollåtta" (Zeroeighters) is the nick name for Stockholmers. Dance in the city hall, Fireworks, children activities at Eriksdalsbadet, breakfast, karaoke and activities at the Globe Arena, music program at Kungsträdgården, pop and rock at Medborgarplatsen and events at Stureplan are some of the highligts in the programme.
Popaganda musicfestival returns

Eriksdalsbadet on Södermalm is the arena for this summers Popagandafestival August 29-30. Popaganda is a popular pop-music festival. Sébastien Tellier (FR), Bonde do Role (BRA), Shout Out Louds (S) and Joel Alme (S) are signed for the festival. Some 20 artists will perform on two stages during the two day festival.
Where The Action Is and Acceleratorfestivalen are two other pop/rock music festivals in Stockholm this summer.
New Rock Festival in Stockholm
"Where the Action Is" is the name of a new rock festival in Stockholm. It takes place at Stora Skuggan, University in the Eco Park in Stockholm June 14th. This is the place to be for a real rock summer. Foo Fighters, and some of the best swedish rock bands are performing: Hellacopters, The Hives, Mando Diao and Sahara Hotnights are participating. Tickets can be bought at Ticnet.

Volvo Ocean Race to Stockholm in 2009

Stockholm was today announced as the final stopover for the Volvo Ocean Race. During the Stopover , between 16-25 June 2009, Stockholm will also host an in-port race as well as a pro-am race in the Stockholm archipelago of 30 000 islands. The boats will dock at Skeppsbron in the City centre during the week.
The 2008-09 Volvo Ocean Race will be the 10th running of this ocean marathon. Starting from Alicante in Spain on 4 October, spanning som 39,000 nautical miles, stopping at around 11 ports and tking nine month to complete in St Petersburg.
