SoFo atmosphere north of Folkungagatan
Photo: Sofo
Visited SoFo last weekend to get updated on the area. Though SoFo stands for the streets south of Folkungagatan (hence SoFo) and east of Götgatan on Södermalm, the SoFo atmosphere is found from Götgatan by Slussen and North of Folkungagatan as well. The district is one of the capital's trendiest, you will find a huge selection of stores and cafés, each with its own individual style. Three words best describe SoFo's atmosphere: young, hip, and laid-back. The great artbook bookshop Konst-ig has moved to SoFo but you will also find clothes at King Lily, ecological foodstore Aubergine, trendy indian restaurant Shanti, clothes at Warderobe, 76 Vintage & Denim, a new interior design store Kent Design Store, artgallery Art Concept Store and my own favorite jewellery David&Martin.

Read on DN that the cosy restaurant Hälsingborg on Birger Jarlsgatan is moving to new premisses in the city in mid January. Nordic light hotel refurbishment
Photo: Nordic Light Hotel
The amazing design hotel Nordic Light have started a long term cooperation with Philips. The launch of "Prototype Room 602" is the first stage of a long-term cooperation agreement between the Nordic Light Hotel and Philips. The objective of "Prototype Room 602" is to create a room where the combination of Swedish design, light research and state-of-the-art technology together form the hotel room of the future.
All three aspects contribute to a complete solution to the demands the future will place on hotel guests. Simplicity is the keyword for the entire project. The result is a holistic experience of first-class design, well thought-out functionality and superior technology that render the guest's stay both comfortable and simple. The next stage is to implement the solutions developed in the prototype room into all hotel rooms. Among the technologic installations will be the latest philips products: homemovie system, remotecontrol with a touch screen, Dect-telephone and latest LCD tv, photoframe etcetera.

Trendier approach at Pub hotel Rica
Photo: Ulfsunda Slott
I heard that Rica Hotel Kungsgatan now is undergoing a total refurbishment. A work colleague saw one of the concept rooms the other day and got so exited. The hotel has a great location, situated in the PUB departmentstorebuilding and opposite of the Concert Hall, but has a somewhat secret entrance. Im therefore happy to hear that they have plans to do something about the lobby. They are also going to connect it more to PUB department store and refurbish all rooms before April 2008!!!
As I understand they will give it a modern, cool look, and I believe that they will succeed, since they are using Svensk Inredning - who have done the most amazing rooms at Ulfsunda Slott.
