Stockholmtown.com - Sweden's best city guide
Stockholmtown.com has been awarded Sweden's best city guide website and one of Sweden's 100 best websites by Internetworld magazine!
Stockholmtown.com is number 27 on the list of Sweden’s topp 100 websites. We also got a beautiful gold medal as Sweden's best city guide website when the award ceremony was held at Sturecompaniet in Stockholm this Wednesday night. This is what the jury said:
"After a visit to this Official Visitors Guide website, Stockholmtown, we do not want more than to book a weekend trip to the capital - despite the fact that we already live here! The brand new site offers beautiful images, fun tips and dynamic charts based on the number of views, and the visitor's own ratings and comments. I click on a cafe, I get tips about a guided sculpture walk and the hottest club on Wednesdays. The rating system is admirably simple and it is also easy to share content with friends."
The award ceremony was a grand slam to Stockholm - Stockholm.se also won in its category, "Best Municipality site" and the "trafiken.nu" trafic site in Stockholm was also found on the top 100-list.
The Vasamuseum - coolest place according to Times
"Here’s a museum with just one exhibit — but what a humdinger. The 17th-century oak warship Vasa is Sweden’s Titanic: hauled out of Stockholm harbour in 1961, 333 years after sinking on its maiden voyage, the ship is a Pirates of the Caribbean fantasy, writhing with multicoloured carvings of emperors and dragons, and squeezed so hugely into the shadowy hall that you fear it’s going to burst the sides. You can swarm everywhere, peering into portholes and checking out the movies and models that bring the ship’s tragicomic history to life."

Arlanda the worlds leading sustainable airport
“Stockholm-Arlanda is already seen as a role model by many international analysts in terms of climate-changing emissions, and this accreditation provides further evidence that the work we’re putting into this also yields results,” says Kerstin Lindberg Göransson, Managing Director of Stockholm-Arlanda Airport.
The organisations behind the programme, called Airport Carbon Accreditation, are ACI, Airport Council International Europe, which is an association of 440 airports in Europe, and WSP Environmental, which is a global technology consultancy providing analysis and other services for sustainable social development.
The programme follows the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, an international standard developed by the World Resources Institute (WRI). There are four different levels, the highest being 3+, which is the one Stockholm-Arlanda has now been accredited. This level means that the airport is entirely climate-neutral with respect to carbon dioxide emissions from its own activities.
SkyView tickets to be released in one month
Stockholm's newest tourist attraction, SkyView, will be officially opened on February 5, 2010. This new ride consists of two gondolas that travel on rails on the outside of Ericsson Globe to the top of the building (130 meters above sea level). Today, the last phase of construction was started, involving the complicated installation of the last rail with the help of a helicopter.
Today, a helicopter was used to lift as many as 60 loads of material for the installation of the last rail on the roof of Ericsson Globe. "This was a crucial moment in the building process that required an incredible amount of preparation. At this time, our mountain climbers from Jämtland are on the roof of Ericsson Globe to receive the heavy load," says Mats Grönlund, CEO of SGA Fastigheter and one of the persons behind the attraction's concept. After more than 100 tons of steel and 100 meters of rails are assembled, SkyView will be finished and people will be able to ride to the top of Sweden's landmark structure, also the world's largest spherical building, in February 2010.
A new Service Center will be opened in connection with the official opening and debut of SkyView to give visitors more accessible and better service. Recruitment days were held on Thursday, November 5 (at 6.00 p.m.) and Friday, November 5 (at 10.00 a.m.) in Stockholm to find suitable candidates who would like to work for SkyView. This is SkyView: Two gondolas travel on rails along the outside of Ericsson Globe to the top of the building. The gondolas are made of glass and each gondola can carry up to 16 persons at a time. At the top of Ericsson Globe, the gondolas stop a while for the panoramic view before returning and taking the same way back. The length of the ride is approximately 16 minutes.
